LAST DAY OF THE YEAR

The New Year lies before you
Like a spotless tract of snow
Be careful how you tread on it
For every mark will show.

Christmas Angel

Christmas Angel

I'm not the smallest angel,
Nor a perfect one 'tis true,
And I'm not always so angelic
In everything I do.

But when I'm sad or frightened,
Or happy and okay,
You're the ones who love me
each and every day.

And though often I'm mistaken
This I know is true:
That I'm a special Christmas Angel
For I belong to you.

A Chubby Snowman

A Chubby Snowman

A chubby little snowman
had a carrot nose.
Along came a bunny,
and what do you suppose?
That hungry little bunny,
looking for some lunch,
Grabbed that snowman's nose,
Nibble, nibble, crunch!

a christmas tree

a tree with the snowmen
I see lots of snowmen on blogs
this made me think
a snowmen quilt
by my own design

snowman

I'm a little snowman
Short and fat.

Here is my nose
And here is my hat.

When the sun comes out
I cannot play.

I just simply melt away!

Winter wonderland

IN WINTER I'M ROUNDER.
In winter I'm rounder
and fatter than before.
I'm wearing coats and sweaters
and woolen hats galore.
My hands are as plump as kittens
when I'm wearing winter mittens.
My legs in thick, snug snow pants
look like an elephant's.
Indeed, I must confess
that when I do undress,
I feel as small and light
as a bird flown out of sight.

my Cats tail

This tail,
for your info,
is not to be stepped on.
I don't care what you were doing,
you should have been careful. Of course I'm down
here - a cat must inspect the drawers
at all times - it's my job!
Now watch out for
this tail!

Long before Autumn,
Long before June,
I sent you blue roses
Beneath a white moon.

Gift on a gray day

stitching on the forest quilt it is a gray day so a great day for stitching
the little box is a gift from my daughter she found it on a fly market
a lovely box for little buttons
and I found this lovely poem  Have a good weekend

a gray day
by Steve Patterson

Thursday, January 27, 2005
Rated "G" by the Author.
a gray day today
a gray day
done come my way
a little bit foggy
dew
and rain
a little bit soggy
but i ain't blue
whatcha' gonna' do
i ain't goin' insane
ain't gonna' be mundane
ain't feelin' no heart pain

and though this day is gray
i remember yesterday
it was sunny
skys were blue
ain't it funny
whatcha' gonna' do
somedays are just that way
and somedays are gray

gotta' take the rain
with the sun
gotta' take the pain
with the fun
no need to go insane
no need to run

ya' can't appreciate
the darkness
'till it's too late
can't know it's starkness
until there's no light
until the day
is night
until the day is gray
until the Sun's passed away

a gray day today
a gray day done come my way
but that's OK
there's always another day

slowly and with more care making Klosjes,,    Spools  ,,,
I was not neat enough sometimes that is my problem
I go to fast and want to much so I make mistakes
And that takes more time I know I know
maybe if I grow up and old enough ,LOL.
I do it the first time right
so lets start again

november

November is here lots of rain and wind
but also many festivities in the 2 months to come

Roses

A ROSE, as fair as ever saw the North,
Grew in a little garden all alone;
A sweeter flower did Nature ne'er put forth,
Nor fairer garden yet was never known:
The maidens danced about it morn and noon,
And learned bards of it their ditties made;
The nimble fairies by the pale-faced moon
Water'd the root and kiss'd her pretty shade.
But well-a-day!--the gardener careless grew;
The maids and fairies both were kept away,
And in a drought the caterpillars threw
Themselves upon the bud and every spray.
God shield the stock! If heaven send no supplies,
The fairest blossom of the garden dies.

Rag Doll

The Little Rag Doll
Sally sat in a corner, a pretty Rag Doll
Molly loved her, Sally was hers, but once, Sally fell
Mother picked her up and loved Sally's frill a lot
'Ah! so nice for my little Jill' she thought
Mother mended little Jill's hem
using Sally's frill
It did look cute as Jill's white lace
But Sally was sad to lose her face
And now Molly did not think Sally was a gem
So she threw Sally
Behind her alley
Sally cried silent tears huddling naked washed with fright
in that empty can of Sprite
Jill picked her up and thought her dress was bright
It would make a pretty sight
when she cut her up and used her
to stuff her little Rag Doll.

Rain

The Art of Rain

© Mitchell D. Wilson

Falling Down, pooling up,
Out of the sky, into my cup.

What is this wet that comes from above,
That some call disaster, and others find love.

The harder it falls, the less it is nice,
The colder it falls the harder the ice.

The rain has an art that I may not get,
So I stand still here and get soaking wet.

Home again

PETRA TOY ROMIOU - BIRTHPLACE OF APHRODITE

25 km east of Paphos.
According to legend, Aphrodite goddess of love and beauty, rose from the waves in this strikingly beautiful spot. The Greek name, Petra tou Romiou The Rock of the Greek' is associated with the legendary frontier-guard of Byzantine times Digenis Akritas, who kept the marauding Saracens at bay with amazing strength. It is said that he heaved this large rock into the sea destroying the enemy's ship.
we had  a wonderful  vacation  but now we are home again

all these scraps

I want to make the Klosjes quilt from these scraps
so it will be a colourful piece
the first 4 are ready

A Treasure
A quilt poem by Mildred Hatfield

It's more than a coverlet,
More than a spread,
This beautiful quilt
That graces my bed.

It's laughter and sorrow,
It's pleasure and pain,
It's small bits and pieces
Of sunshine and rain.

It's a bright panorama
Of scraps of my life-
It's moments of glory,
It's moments of strife.

It's a story I cherish
Of days that have been,
It's a door I can open
To live them again.

Yes, it's more than a cover,
This much-treasured quilt,
It's parts pieced together
Of the life I have built.

from a distant

whose eye is it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Gentle eyes that see so much,
paws that have the quiet touch,
Purrs to signal "all is well"
and show more love than words could tell.
Graceful movements touched with pride,
a calming presence by our side -
A friendship that takes time to grow -
Small wonder why we love them so.

to look at it from a distant
and  see what the next step to take

and now i see the bear ,I have to work on
give him a face
make him a live
